Avete mai sentito parlare di nutrigenomica? Non è un termine molto noto, perchè si riferisce ad una tecnica di analisi genetica personalizzata che va ad indagare la capacità di un individuo di metabolizzare gli alimenti, ancora poco diffusa in Italia.

In altre parole si tratta di un’analisi che va a vedere – tra i geni che sono scritti sui vostri cromosomi – quali sono quelli che possono predisporvi a difficoltà nell’assorbimento di carboidrati, lipidi o proteine con conseguente sviluppo di obesità, diabete, malattie cardiovascolari etc.

Quindi ben altra cosa rispetto ai pittoreschi test sulle intolleranze alimentari che non consiglierei neanche per uso veterinario.

Esistono decine di studi sull’efficacia della nutrigenomica, ma dato che  io sono un curioso ho deciso di provarla di persona sottoponendomi ad un test per la ricerca di problematiche metaboliche. Il prelievo è molto semplice in quanto consiste nella raccolta di un campione di saliva (che contiene cellule di sfaldamento della mucosa della bocca) mediante un cotton-fioc. Nessun fastidio nè dolore, tempo massimo trenta secondi.

Il prezzo invece è un pò alto (circa duecento euro) ma, se pensiamo che una ridicola analisi delle intolleranze alimentari può costare uguale, o poco meno, direi che il prezzo è ottimo, perchè questo è un esame che si fa una volta sola in una vita e soprattutto che la vita ve la può letteralmente salvare, se mettete a frutto le sue indicazioni e i suoi suggerimenti.

Questo è stato il responso. Detto in parole semplici: “presenza di un genotipo correlato ad una riduzione drlla secrezione insulinica che può determinare predisposizione allo sviluppo di diabete tipo2 se si segue un’alimentazione ad elevato contenuto di carboidrati ed in aggiunta a questo, presenza di un genotipo correlato ad una maggiore suscettibilità ai grassi saturi nella dieta, non tanto in termini di accumulo ponderale (anzi, secondo il test ho  un tipo di metabolismo rapido che non mi predispone al sovrappeso) quanto piuttosto in termini di rischio cardiovascolare“.

Non bella come risposta. Per mia fortuna si tratta di regole alimentari (assumere pochi carboidrati e assumere grassi saturi solo se associati a grassi mono e poli-insaturi) che ho sempre seguito spontaneamente e su cui ho pubblicato articoli e libri, ma provate a pensare se fossi stato il cossiddetto uomo della strada…

Per di più il test vi consiglia una dieta (dettagliata in un paio di paginette allegate al test) basata sui problemi riscontrati. Nel mio caso:

E, in aggiunta alla dieta personalizzata, vi sono eventuali suggerimenti nutraceutici (nel mio caso: olio di pesce, vino rosso e zenzero) che vengono ritenuti utili per permettervi di abbassare gli indici di rischio delle patologie riscontrate.

Che dirvi, sono rimasto strabiliato! Si sono anche accorti del deficit di lipoproteina lipasi che mi avevano scoperto ai tempi dell’università quando avevo fatto da cavia per uno studio sui lipidi plasmatici.  Insomma ritengo siano stati i soldi meglio spesi in salute negli ultimi cinquant’anni della mia vita.

D’ora in poi ho deciso che lo userò con tutti i miei pazienti obesi e con tutti gli atleti. La nutrigenomica mi ha convinto al 100%.

Se la cosa vi ha, come credo, incuriosito chiedete al vostro medico di base se nella vostra città esiste un laboratorio (di solito universitario) che esegua test di questo tipo e se c’è fatelo, vi cambierà la vita in meglio. E potrebbe addirittura farvi vivere più a lungo.

Io credo che presto questo test ci permetterà anche di vedere i geni che paiono collegati alla anoressia e alla bulimia e che ci permettono di dire che se una persona segue certi pattern alimentari è a rischio di sviluppare la malattia. Insomma penso che questo sia solo l’inizio e presto ne vedremo delle belle…

    se ti riferisci ad un problema alimentare, il primo passo è la consapevolezza del problema. il secondo la ricerca di un medico/o centro specializzato che possa aiutarti. il terzo, e cruciale, la motivazione.

    so bene che ci sono dei test culturali e fisici duri, ma vorrei capire se il fatto di aver avuto il linfoma e di dover sostenere periodicamente dei controlli può costituire un problema per l’ ammissione.
